Friday

Yesterday we went to Tambourine Studios to meet with Per Sunding after a long summer vacation, and to start planning this fall's work in the studio. We listened to the songs we have worked with during the summer, and got to hear Per's view on them.
Per always has a lot to add to our music, and it's no nice when someone from the outside, who's opinions you trust, comes and gives your songs and your sound a new dimension.

Today we are getting ready for the first real video shooting day, tomorrow. We have shot some scenes from the live performance in Ängelholm, but tomorrow we will start with the storyline.
Unfortunately we start at 6 am! Not the ideal time for a musician, used to work late at nights... so tonight we are going to bed early... maybe.

For our Swedish fans

Kom till den mysiga medeltidsstaden Jakriborg och var statist i vår nya video!
Vi ska spela på gatan Söndagen den 7 september mellan 13.00 och 16.00, och behöver en stor publik som tittar på oss.

Hoppas vi ses!

All over again

We are kind of tired of getting our hair done wearing loads of makeup and posing in front of the camera in wind and rain for hours and hours.
It might sound all glamorous and fancy to do a photo shoot, and it is for the first 2 hours, but then when you re-dress for the 7th time and put on some lipstick for the 20th time it's not so much fun any more.

What I'm saying is, yesterday we had to go through the whole process again because the weather was simply too much to handle last time, so we went to Larsson & Lange to get our hair done, we went to Makeup Store to get some makeup on (have you heard this before?) and we stuffed all our things in the car and started driving around to different locations.

First of all we had the locations we couldn't do last time, but then off course, ambitious as we are, we thought we might as well do some more setups while we were at it, so we went to a place where they create the poles for the wind-power stations and took some pictures there. Bengt was kind enough to help us all the time and show us around the place.

At 10 pm we could finally pack up and go home. This time it wasn't with a feeling of dissatisfaction, but rather with a feeling of pride, that we had done a great job.
Hopefully you will see the result in our new website soon.

It has to be mentioned that Anna, on her birthday last week, got a brand new-old car! It’s a red Volvo 740 from -88, and its name is Adde Malmberg, named after its former owner Adde Malmberg.
Adde, meaning the car, is now considered a member of Calaisa, and I guess he will be involved quite a lot in Calaisa’s traveling in the future.

Pictures from the photosession yesterday.

Yesterday we did the photo shoot we have been planning for a while... or at least half the photo shoot. When we had two setups left the rain strated pooring down and we had to call it a day, to continue another time. The pictures we took before the rain came, felt good though.

The TV-show that led to a beer that led to Ninii

Early this year we were guests in the talk show ”Robins” in Malmö. After the show we, Robin and some other people from the production, went to Tempo for a beer.
A few beers later Robin mentions that he has a sister, Annika, who designs clothes here in Malmö, and that we should check her out.
That off course fell out of our minds for some time, but then 2 weeks ago we started talking about it again amongst ourselves and decided to check her out. We found out that Annika is a super talanted designer, who makes very cool clothes, so we called her to se if she was interested in working with us.
It turns out she was, so now Calaisa and Ninii is a fact.

We called our friend and great photographer Daniel Andersson, we called Makeup Store, we called Larsson & Lange, and now we have a perfect team for a successful photo shoot. The locations are set, the clothes are tried on and matched together and we’re back at the hairdresser for a freshen-the-hair-up, and tomorrow we shoot.

For the last photo session we went to Dublin, and met the stylist, the makeup-guy and the hair-girl for the first time on the same morning the pictures were being taken. We never tried the clothes on before and we didn’t know any of them.
They did a great job, and it’s nice to have other people book everything for you, in a way, but it’s even more nice to know the people you are going to work with and to have seen the locations and the clothes so that you feel comfortable in it.

We are very much looking forward to tomorrow!

As you might have noticed the old website is down and we’re working on a new one. According to the meeting with Mubito (who does the site) yesterday it could be opened in mid September. In the meantime you will have to stick with the blog, myspace and facebook.
When the new site comes though, it will be fantastic!

Music music music

For the 3:rd time this year we visited beautiful Karlskrona to play at "Sailet" last Friday.
Unfortunately the gig was over way too fast and we had to go back to Malmö and couldn't stay and enjoy the nice coast city, full of happy festival-people drinking beer in the sunset.
...next time...

Tonight Lisa is back from Barcelona and the four of us are meeting at Malin’s place to plan the weekend.
We are going to Gothenburg tomorrow, to attend a big meeting for managers from the whole world, to listen and learn about the worldwide music industry.
Knowledge that can be good to have if you want to be on top of the world :)

In the evening we play in Ängelholm at "Ljusfesten", where we will also shoot some of the scenes for our new video. So people in the audience: dress up nice! :)

Saturday we're back in Gothenburg to enjoy other great artists that are playing at Way out West, like for instance Neil Young, Håkan Hellström and Fleet Foxes.
It's always nice to be entertained!!!

From the writing session with Maia Sharp

Maia Sharp wrote "You are mine" together with Liz Rose, and when Maia was here in Sweden to write songs with us we had the honor to sing it together with her.
